Job: Expert Front End Web Developer, Red Talent

Highly profitable, rapidly expanding and innovative multi-media solutions company is seeking a business -minded Front End Web Developer to join its young multi-national team working on exciting ‘first-to-market’ projects in the converging Internet, Interactive IPTV and Mobile areas.

With a salary available to attract the very best, this full-time Barcelona-based position centres on design implementation, development, maintenance, and support for the front end of web-based applications, working in several phases of the development life-cycle. The job-holder will take personal responsibility for front-end application appearance and functionality, with key contributions to code writing, compliance testing, documentation, and maintenance

At the heart of the technology team, but with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy, the job-holder will be expected to keep fully-abreast of evolving technologies, playing a critical role in the growth of the business as a whole.

Key responsibilities:

• Design extension, develop, test, document, and maintain the front end of web-based applications (pages and forms) using XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.0, JavaScript, XSL, PHP 5.0, JSP, Photoshop.
• Creation, production and implementation of design.
• Maintenance and support of internal and external sites. Adapting, fixing and occasionally recreating code for white label design/style.
• Designing and coding HTML E-mails for compatibility for Outlook, Outlook Express, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL.
• Ensuring usability and accessibility across all projects - coding to w3c standards (Section 508 accessibility) compliance on new projects and adapting existing models. Graceful degradation of JavaScript. Providing equal compatibility, look, and feel across several platforms including IE6 (PC), IE7 (PC), FireFox (PC & Mac), Safari (Mac).
• Providing XHTML & CSS services, support, and instruction to other developers.
• Testing, troubleshooting, and analyzing complex system problems and determining solutions.
• Assessment of and recommendations regarding tools, languages, methodologies, and processes for the technology team.
• Keeping up to date with and operationalizing new website communications technologies

The role requires:

• At least three to five years’ experience as a key member of a development team through the product development cycle of several successfully-launched B2C web, mobile and/or software applications;
• Previous experience in New Media, social networking, mobile or game products is a substantial plus; Participation in the above mediums is required;
• Must have experience reading Requirements Documentation, wireframes and visual specifications documents.
• Familiar with image compression, file correction, and optimization techniques;
• Strong understanding of UI and user-centered design;
• Strong communication skills;
• Experience with a formalized development process and interfacing with project managers
• Excellent interpersonal/communications skills with the ability to interact effectively with team members and members of other departments. Ability to work in a fast paced / dynamic team environment and possessing excellent time management skills.
• Expertise in HTML/XHTML (W3C), CSS (W3C), Photoshop.
• Intermediate skills with JavaScript, XSL, PHP, JSP, DOM.
• Proficiency with application software testing (unit, integration, and application-level). Familiarity with QA Test Plans and QA Methodologies.
