Our client, a leading international e-commerce solutions provider, is seeking a Database Administrator whose mission will be to support the Development Team in Sql query programming and improvement, database design and architecture, creation and programming of reports using Sql, optimization of existing Sql code and proposal of queries to improve database performance, monitoring and managing of all stating, UAT and Production environments, and the ownership of and management of operational projects.
General Duties:
• Installation of new software —Install new versions of DBMS software, application software, and other software related to DBMS administration
• Configuration of hardware and software with the system administrator
• Security administration —the DBA will monitor and administer DBMS security (adding and removing users, administering quotas, auditing, and checking for security problems).
• Liaison with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers
• Regular interface with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
• Data analysis of data stored in the database and recommendations relating to data storage performance and efficiency. Championing more effective use of indexes, enabling "Parallel Query" execution, or other DBMS specific features.
• Involvement in the preliminary database-design stages. Through knowledge of the DBMS and system, identification of potential problems, and help in special performance considerations.
• Data modeling and optimization of system layouts to take advantage of the I/O subsystem.
• Responsibility for existing enterprise database administration and analysis, design, and creation of new databases.
• Data modeling, database optimization, understanding and implementation of schemas, ability to interpret and write complex SQL queries
• Proactively monitor systems for optimum performance and capacity constraints
• Establish standards and best practices for SQL
• Interact with and coach developers in Structured Query Language (SQL) scripting
Specific Requirements:
• At least 4 years of experience in Oracle Database
• Developer/Administrator, version 8i, 9, 10g, 11i, 11g
• Fully experienced in creating SQL query and database optimization.
• Creation of scripts for automating repetitive processes
• Oracle environment administration, installation, instance management,
• Performance improvement, monitoring, patch installation,
• Troubleshooting Backup and recovery tasks, rman and exports management.
• Availability to be on duty in a weekly basis (24x7)
• High-level written and spoken of English
• High-level spoken Catalan
• A team player
Desired Requirements
• Knowledge of Unix (Linux) environments.
• Knowledge of PL/SQL
• Mysql
• Oracle Certifications
• Other open source database experience such as Postgresql
